a deep dive
into who we are.

we exist so that folks of all backgrounds, body types, and beliefs can come together over the shared goal of getting (and staying) well.

the pathway to wellness looks different for each of us. for this reason, our schedule includes a wide range of styles that are rooted both in tradition, and new findings about the body.

classes are led by our incredible teaching staff in ways that the modern yogi can absorb and apply to everyday life.

you are welcome + worthy, and we can’t wait to meet you.

our leaders

each member of our teaching staff comes from a unique background that makes them as humans, and their teachings, authentic and powerful.

class descriptions

all classes are all-levels!

ashtanga

we dive in to the traditional primary series created by K. Pattabhi Jois during this class. while it is traditionally a more vigorous practice, our teachers lead in a way that allows both beginners and advanced practitioners to benefit and move together. * please note there may be variations of this class on the schedule. the description of those variants can be found on mindbody.

roll + flow

equal parts mellow flow, and using yoga tune up balls to get into our fascia and deep tissues! you’ll warm up and balance the body with a relaxed-pace flow class, and weave in functional rolling practices to assist the body into deeper openings, and healing. all materials provided by the studio for this class, but if you’d like to take a set of tune-up balls home, we have them for sale at the studio.

yin

yin yoga works into the deeper layers of our body (like the tendons, ligaments, and fascia) by resting into longer holds, allowing you to feel more connected + mobile within your body. this practice is slower paced with little to no standing poses. busy brain? yin is an incredible way to work on mental focus. we suggest giving these classes a few tries if you find it hard to rest the racing mind. dress warm, and expect the use of yoga blocks and bolsters.

sound bath

this class is a still + sweet offering by our most musical yogi, Kera. Kera incorporates song, instruments, and meditations into this class so you can lay back and enjoy the ride. no movement, only soaking it all up. perfect for those who are looking for an energetic shift or deep rest. in person only at the studio, as this sound is too sacred to travel over zoom.

morning flow

can we make you a coffee? this practice is lighthearted, includes a meditation to start, and is meant to awaken the body in the early hours of the morning. during the summer, we practice outdoors in the park or patio. during the winter we practice indoors. bring your own mug, please!

vinyasa

you can expect these classes to feel like one continuous movement, guided by your breath. we’ll move into targeted areas of the body + create openness as well as stability. * please note there may be variations of this class on the schedule. the description of those variants can be found on mindbody.

flow yoga

vinyasa and flow are often used to replace one another. on our schedule, flow classes range from chill (relaxed, slower) to spicy (longer holds, opportunities to try harder poses) and will always be described on our mindbody profile when you go to sign up!

where we began

our studio was founded in 2019 by Lauren Hart, a yoga instructor and event planner who was born and raised in the area. After years of travelling to complete multiple yoga trainings, and teaching across Alberta, BC, and in California, Lauren returned home to open a studio and bring the community together.

Heartspace was created to be a safe, laid back, and inclusive yoga space in which teachers can creatively express their love of yoga and teaching style, and students can feel free to be themselves and learn about the mind/body connection. We aim to bring ancient teachings into modern times, focus on functional movements for the body, and overall mental and physical wellbeing.
